End of the season again…

Wow, I cannot believe it is that time of the year again. Two more weeks and then; end of the season, time to pack up and vacation time! Trust me, we love what we do and can’t wait to see everyone again next season, but who does not get excited about vacation???

Vacation

With the end of this season though, we sadly have to say goodbye to one of our amazing staff! With sadness in our harts we have to say goodbye to our amazing PADI divemaster, painter, artist, seamstress and friend; Shane Pollard. So let me let you guys in on some of the ins and outs of Shane that some of you might, but might not know…

DSC_2867Shane, now 34 and from California, moved to the BVI about 4 years ago as a sail instructor to work at BEYC. After some amazing seasons with the BEYC water sports staff it was time for him to move Just another dayon. While working at BEYC he had become a diver and did quit a lot of his dive training with us, up to PADI Rescue diver. When it was time to move on we offered him a job, but the time was just not right and so back to California he went. After months of us searching for new crew we got tired of looking and called Shane. We worked out a deal which worked for all of us and back to the BVI he came.

When we hired Shane we knew he would be a great addition to our team, although little did we know about his hidden talents. Shane is not just a PADI Divemaster, he is one of the best ones, with a great way to interact with people. Came in handy that he is an artist to so we put him to work whenever we could to paint; the office, doors, murals, floors, tanks, boats, signs …whatever you can think of Shane painted it. Little does he know that he will have to come on vacation every year for touch ups on everything 🙂 Next to that he is also handy with the sewing machine, so next to fixing Kay’s shorts he also made covers for life rafts and rings, lines, curtains,..As everyone else hates it, we were thrilled to find out Shane can find his way around electrics.

We are sad to see him leave, but are happy for him! Thanks for two amazing seasons with us, you were an awesome colleague, staff, and friend! This is not a goodbye just a see you later!
